The Challenge

Compliance training that nobody completed

The organisation was facing a compliance crisis. Their mandatory training — covering ACQS standards, infection control, medication management, and clinical procedures — had a completion rate hovering around 23%. Staff found the PowerPoint-based courses tedious, irrelevant, and disconnected from their daily work.

With regulatory audits approaching and a workforce of over 2,400 distributed across multiple facilities, something needed to change. Fast.

Outdated Content

10-year-old PowerPoint decks with irrelevant scenarios and outdated regulatory references.

Time Constraints

Care workers with limited time away from residents couldn't complete lengthy courses.

Zero Engagement

Staff clicked through without reading, treating it as a tick-box exercise.

No Analytics

L&D had no visibility into what was working or where people struggled.

The Solution

Microlearning that respects time

Rather than another overhaul that would collect dust, I designed ATLAS — a modular microlearning platform built around how healthcare workers actually learn. Short modules. Real scenarios. Immediate application.

01

Bite-Sized Modules

Each module takes 5-15 minutes. Perfect for completing during shift handovers or quiet moments. No more 90-minute courses that never get finished.

02

Scenario-Based Learning

Every module centres on realistic scenarios staff actually encounter. Mrs. Patterson's medication. Mr. Chen's fall risk assessment. Real decisions, real consequences.

03

Mobile-First Design

Built responsive from day one. Staff complete modules on facility tablets, personal phones, or desktop computers — whatever's available.

04

Smart Progress Tracking

Managers see real-time completion rates by facility, role, and individual. At-risk staff get gentle reminders. L&D gets actionable analytics.

The Process

From audit to launch

Phase 1

Discovery & Audit

Reviewed existing content, interviewed SMEs and frontline staff, analysed LMS data. Identified critical gaps and compliance requirements.

Phase 2

Content Strategy

Mapped all compliance requirements to learning objectives. Designed the modular structure and microlearning approach. Created scenario storyboards.

Phase 3

Development

Built interactive modules in Articulate Storyline. Integrated with existing LMS. Tested across devices and user groups.

Phase 4

Pilot & Iterate

Rolled out to pilot facility. Gathered feedback, refined scenarios, optimised navigation. Made accessibility improvements.

Phase 5

Organisation-Wide Launch

Deployed across all facilities with manager training and communication campaign. Established ongoing support and iteration process.
