Despite affecting ~3.6 million Australians, arthritis remains widely underdiagnosed and mismanaged due to gaps in clinical education. This creates significant variability in care and poorer patient outcomes.
Supporting the National Strategic Action Plan for Arthritis and the goals of the Australian Rheumatology Association, ATLAS was designed to directly address these gaps by translating complex, evidence-based clinical guidelines into engaging, accessible eLearning - enabling time-constrained healthcare professionals to apply best-practice arthritis care in real-world settings.
Co-developed with 35 arthritis experts from leading institutions, ATLAS features five tailored learning pathways. Each pathway translates specialist knowledge into practical, accessible learning for clinicians across disciplines, regardless of time pressure or prior familiarity with arthritis management.
Led the digital development of the ATLAS Rheumatoid Arthritis work stream, managing the full instructional design lifecycle from initial concept through to final LMS implementation.
I utilized a comprehensive suite of tools to develop the ATLAS eLearning platform, from content creation in Articulate Storyline to audio editing in Audacity and ensuring accessibility with WebAIM Color Contrast Checker.
Our design phase translated complex clinical guidelines into digestible, engaging learning experiences. We developed RA learning objectives targeting higher-order thinking skills, implemented multimedia principles to enhance retention, and ensured accessibility for all users.

5.1 Evaluation Framework

A significant achievement for the ATLAS project was securing formal endorsement from the Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA), Australia's peak professional body for rheumatologists and rheumatology health professionals. This endorsement validated both the clinical accuracy and educational design quality of the program, significantly enhancing its credibility and adoption among healthcare professionals.
